Steve Walker

Steven A. Walker, Esq. – Law is Steve’s second career which gives him a unique perspective when providing legal solutions and services to clients.  Steve is a 2008 magna cum laude graduate of Syracuse University College of Law and upon graduation from law school, Steve worked at a mid-sized law firm in Syracuse, New York for over 10 years where he was first an associate attorney and then later a shareholder (partner).

Steve earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from Cornell University, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) in 1992 where he graduated 1st in his class.  Steve is also an alumnus of the Cornell Dairy Executive Program, (Class I).

They say you can “take the boy off the farm, but you can’t take the farm out of the boy” and that is true with Steve as he has a deep passion and love for all things agriculture and is deeply committed to preserving farms, the environment, and our food system.  Steve’s love of farming and cows in particular started on a 40-cow family dairy farm in Cooperstown, New York.  Steve then gained more experience in the agricultural industry as a partner of a 500-cow dairy and vegetable operation in Western New York where he was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the dairy for nine years.  Steve continues to own a herd of dairy cows that are leased out to several different farms.  It is this real-life experience that makes Steve uniquely suited to provide business and farm succession planning services.

Steve continues to remain active in the agricultural industry and volunteers his time to give back to the industry.  Steve is currently the Northeast Dairy Producers Association representative on the New York Beef Council and is a former Region I Vice President of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Federation Division.  Steve also serves on the Board of Directors for Agri-Business Child Development, a not-for-profit providing early childhood education and social services to farm workers and other eligible families across New York State.
