Steve established the Walker Law Firm, P.C. in January 2019, after being an associate and then a shareholder (partner) of a mid-sized law firm in Syracuse, New York for over 10 years. Located in Camillus, New York, just west of Syracuse, we are centrally located to serve clients throughout New York State. Our client base stretches from Buffalo in the west to Buskirk in the east, and from the Pennsylvania border in the south to Watertown and Plattsburgh in the north.
Our goal is to develop long-term relationships so we may better assist and anticipate our client’s needs. Steve is able to do this by providing superior service by traveling to his clients farms, businesses, and homes. We also work closely with accountants, financial planners, local attorneys, and consultants to achieve creative and complete solutions for our clients.
Steve and the rest of his team are practical and “down to earth” which stems from Steve growing up on the family dairy farm in Cooperstown, New York where he learned the value of common sense and integrity at a young age. We strive to provide competent, practical, cost effective and straightforward legal advice so that you can make well informed legal decisions. Steve is not going to show up in a suit and tie at a meeting but rather you will usually find him in jeans and a button-down shirt with his cowboy boots. Steve has met with clients in the field more than once to sign documents on the tailgate of his truck or on the fender of a tractor.
Steve has served as counsel to numerous agricultural families and other enterprises throughout New York State. He advises owners and operators of farms and agricultural businesses in all areas of business, estate, and succession planning. Steve uses his agricultural background to bring a unique perspective to his legal practice. He has facilitated business structures between non-family members and complex transactions, such as creating limited liability companies for joint ventures among agricultural producers or for preserving the capital of the original corporate entity while allocating future growth to the managing member(s).
